I’ve been allergic to some soaps in the past. Will I be able to use yours?

Many allergic reactions stem from the fragrances and/or colours used in soaps, especially if they are synthetic. Also, many commercial soaps use ingredients, e.g. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), which are themselves skin irritants. All the ingredients in our soaps, on the other hand, are natural and we source them with great care. Our fragrances are essential oils from plants and the colours we use are from infused plant material - flowers, roots etc, or from clays. However, even essential oils contain naturally occurring allergens so if you would like details of the allergens in any of our soaps, please contact us. In any case these will be listed with the ingredients on the labels.

Also, there are two Thistle Soaps specifically for people who suffer from allergies or have sensitive skins. These soaps, Calendula and Shea with Aloe Vera, contain no added fragrances or colours. (These two soaps are coming soon)

Does “The Thistle Soap Company” really make the soaps themselves?

Yes. Thistle Soaps make all their soaps using the traditional Cold Process method and recipes that they themselves have formulated. They source their own ingredients ensuring that they are of high quality as well as environmentally sustainable. They make the soaps on their own premises and allow a minimum of four weeks for them to cure before putting them on sale. These soaps are not "melt and pour"!

Are the “Thistle Soaps” Tested on Animals?

None of our soaps are tested on animals. Nor do we use any animal fats in our soaps.

Are the “Thistle Soaps” suitable for vegetarians?

all of the thistle soaps are suitable for vegetarians - indeed, all except three (they contain honey, beeswax or goats milk) are suitable for vegans.

Do the “Thistle Soaps” contain thistles?

Some of these soaps contain thistles from the garden; however the majority of these soaps do not contain thistles.

How are your soaps packaged?

Our soaps come wrapped in handmade paper. The labels comply with the relevant UK and European legislation and carry full details of the ingredients and any allergens.
